A safe and resilient community with a shared vision of trauma-informed programming for youth.
Who We Are
Connection, collaboration, shared learning and community action define the intent of our local trauma- and violence-informed community of practice with a shared focus on programming for youth.
Develop and deliver trauma-informed community-based programs promoting resilience and life skills in young people living in Peterborough, Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland Counties.
Building Internal Resilience Through Horses
Our founding program is Building Internal Resilience Through Horses. This is a trauma-informed community-based program with a research component, led by Kawartha Sexual Assault Centre in partnership with The Mane Intent Inc. and researchers from Trent University. Peterborough Youth Services is also a supporting partner.
The program is currently funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada as part of its Innovation Strategy Supporting the Health of Victims of Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Through Community Programs.
Download the Building Internal Resilience Through Horses manual – a free community resource and guide for therapists, social workers, and equine program facilitators offering skill-based equine-assisted learning.
